Karl, I'm blown away by what you went through, I'm sorry about it, sounds like it was painful. Cool that you're a Christian now, so am I. Has you relationship with your mom and step improved now that you're home?

Wild, that might work, maybe you should wait until tomorrow? I really think his parents took his phone. I was surprised by his dad's line of questioning though, he's not a JW right? I wonder if he knows that his wife may shun their son if Richie is df'ed? Let's just pray for him and send love his way.

Just a heads up, I called Richie and left a message, saying it was from V Sky and was calling to offer him any encouragment and support he needs. About an hour later, my phone rings, it's his number.
I answer 'Hi Richie!'. It's his dad, he say's 'Who is this?' Since I haven't spoken to Richie before, I give my first name.
The dad says 'Where do you know my son from?' Now at this point, I'm not sure if Richie is screening his own calls or if his cell's been confiscated. So I said, 'I'm a friend of his and I wanted to call to see how he's doing, is he there?'
Dad says, 'Richie says he doesn't know you and I want to know how you know my son? He's a minor.'
I said, 'I understand sir, and I'm just a friend.'
Dad says, 'A friend from where?'
I'm tongue tied by now so I said, 'If this isn't a good time, I'll call back again."
Dad says, 'It would be better if you don't."
Does anyone know what's going on? Is Richie okay? or is he on some kind of major lock down?

Shunning and Friendship...two different things.
by gumby inthis thread is started as a result of our friend lola's thread about meeting with elders and why.. it was mentioned by our poster that many would see folly in worrying about offending the ladies that helped her and that they were not true friends since they would shun her were she dfed.. is this what many of you think?.
do you think if family or friends shun you after you are dfed or daed they are not "true friends"?.
well i totally disagree.. does a mother or father who lets their child die due to refusing a blood transfusion.....not love their child?

Gumby, this is a tough call. My husband is being shunned by his family. Part of me knows they are hurting too but another part wants to slap them for their cruelty. This is their only son, do you understand? This is his sister's only brother, okay? I know JWs are blind. I'm not innocent myself. I shunned my best friend for years when she was df'ed, I'm not proud of it, I was a self-righteous jerk for doing it. I look back and I don't understand how I could have hurt her that way. Sure I thought I was doing the right thing but no matter what I believed or what my 'loyal' motives were - it wasn't loving, bottom line. I thought about her all the time but I didn't act on my true feelings - that wasn't love, it was self preservation, I didn't want to die at Armageddon or lose my friends. So you'd think I understand, but I don't. I think about my husband and how he's suffereing because of this unloving, harsh organization and I feel so helpless. I begged his family not to shun him. I told them, even though we're Christians now, we won't discuss spiritual things with them, but please, please don't hurt him and they did. I pray to keep my love for them alive. I know they're brainwashed, I know they are good people, I'm sorry they're trapped in a cult but part of me wants to lash out in anger for all the pain they are putting him through. I pray for them everyday - that God will appeal to their humanity and speak to their hearts.

For the R&F: I feel sorry for these poor, poor people. They are in bondage and I want to free them all.
For the gb & wts: control freaks, their religion is a snare and a racket, child molester's paradise, blood guilty, cold, judgmental, cruel, and destroyer of families. They don't know the meaning of love and are rotten to the core.

All I have to do is look at a new born baby to know that there definately is a God. Miracles happen every day, there is too much beauty in life to have been a random accident. However, there are many things I don't understand that I plan on asking God when we meet face to face. The WTS took many things but I refused to let them have my faith.

Your prayers and thoughts for Randy!
by Atlantis ini realize that randy watters is not the type of person to want to worry others, especially when it come to his own health.
and i also realize that randy might want to kick me in the backsides for posting this little message.
thats ok, i'll even buy him a new set of boots to kick me with, but for right now if we could take a few moments to send our prayers, thoughts, and perhaps ecards for randy's swift recovery, then i know that randy would certainly appreciate it .dear friends of randy, due to some complications from a pain medication randy was using during an attack of his crohn's disease last week, he became seriously dehydrated and was hospitalized this past thursday, april 13th.
